My study won't open

voXel reads the common DICOM encodings except JPEG 2000 and video, and names the one it can't read. Ask for an uncompressed export. 7z and compressed RAR archives aren't supported, so use ZIP. A study damaged while it was copied can't be recovered; fetch it again.

How do I get a study onto the iPad?

Tap + in the sidebar and choose a folder, ZIP or RAR from Files, iCloud Drive, a USB-C drive or AirDrop. Or tap Send from a desktop and open the address it shows in a browser on the same Wi-Fi. The transfer is encrypted. Your browser warns that the connection is not private, because the certificate is made by your iPad rather than a certificate authority; the sheet shows its fingerprint to check against.

What is free, and what is Pro?

Free: importing, viewing, window and level, cine, the tag inspector, study sets, My Notes with five note pins and three sequence notes, ten saved images, recording lectures and playing them back, and PNG and Saved slides PDF export with a small voXel footer. voXel Pro adds measuring and marking, Locate, reformats, 3D, volume rendering and AR, unlimited notes and saved images, saved views, transcription, every export format, and Send from a desktop.

Can I record a lecture?

Yes. Open a note and tap the mic. Ask the lecturer first; voXel reminds you the first time. The recording stays on your iPad unless you export it. With Pro, on iPadOS 26, Transcribe turns it into text on the iPad. The first time, iPadOS may download Apple's speech model, which needs the internet once.

I bought Pro but it's asking again

Open About, then voXel Pro, and tap Restore Purchases, signed in with the Apple Account you bought with. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Does voXel connect to PACS?

No. It opens files you already have.

What happens to my images?

They stay on your iPad. voXel has no account, no cloud and no analytics; see the privacy policy. A 3D model exported as STL, OBJ, 3MF or USDZ carries no patient details, but a skin surface of a head shows a face, so treat it as identifiable. One exported as DICOM carries the patient's name and IDs, like the scan, so it files with the study.

Something is wrong

Open About, then Report a problem: it emails a report to me. If voXel closed by itself, open it again first, so the report can say where it crashed. It contains no file names or patient details, apart from anything you type into it, so please don't type any.

Is voXel for diagnosis?

No. It is for reference and education only, not for primary diagnostic interpretation. An iPad display is not a calibrated reporting display.

Can you add a feature?

Ask, and say what you were trying to do. PACS connection, cloud sync and automatic detection are not planned.
